Abstract

The Ruler of the throne in the Church of the Birth of the Virgin in Leskovac (Odzaklija) and the thrones dedicated to the ruler and rulers from the Church of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles connects the identical conception and execution. They are formed as a seat with a canopy in which the icons are placed on the back. The icons are preserved only from thrones in Vlasotince and the chronology of their creation indicates that in this church there was an older construction of the ruler’s throne from which the icon was taken. The trunks were installed after the entry of these towns into the Principality of Serbia in 1878, probably around 1882.The practice of placing the thrones in the Principality follows, where they were an important part of national anddynastic propaganda. The heraldic markings on the throne of the Leskovac church indicate that the throne gave specific propagandas in the new territories that are related to the personality of Prince Milan. The production of the thrones is attributed to a certain master Zaša Dimitrijević, originating from Samokov, who can be identified, with the reserve, as Zaharije Dimitrov Dospevski. The thrones are parallels in the works of self-portraits in the Bulgarian region.
