TECHNIQUES FOR HANDLING MUSEUM OBJECTS: Hosting of exhibition of the National Museum in Leskovac The Golden Age of Leskovac 1918-1941. in the RTS gallery

Abstract

The techniques for handling museum objects and the manner in which the activities have to be undertaken during the organization of the guest exhibit must be in accordance with certain rules formulated in institutions dealing with preventive protection and conservation. This paper presents a description of the techniques applied during the interinstitutional cooperation between the National Museum in Leskovac and Radio Television of Serbia, and on the example of the “Golden Age of Leskovac 1918-1941” exhibition. Bearing in mind all the conditions and potentials that accompany the organization of guest exhibitions, suggestions and possible solutions are given as to how to transport objects in a safer and simpler way with the minimum respect for the basic rules in the realization of the exhibition setting, where museum objects will not suffer from being damaged.
