Abstract

Based on archival materials, published sources, press, and relevant literature, this paper presents and analyzes the traffic connections between the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Kingdom of Albania from 1929 to 1935. During the studied period, the two neighboring countries were connected by maritime, road, lake, and river transport. There were no direct rail or air lines between them. Good traffic connections were one of the prerequisites for the success of the Yugoslav political-economic action aimed at preventing the further spread of Italian influence in Albania. However, due to the economic crisis and other factors, there was lack of decisive measures by the Yugoslav state to improve transportation connections with Albania, which continued to hinder the development of Yugoslav-Albanian trade, tourism, mobility and postal communication.
