Abstract
Ties between Serbia and the Venetian Republic were established during the Middle Ages and became more intense during the Renaissance. We learn more about the political, economic, as well as cultural Venetian-Serbian circumstances from scientific and unofficial Venetian sources. Some sources are known primarily in the political-historical and economic-historical context, while the
cultural-historical aspects are little known. Sources such as the chronicle of Andrea Dandolo, the autobiography of Gerasim Zelić, the relations and travel diary of Paolo Contarini and others, represent important documents in the field of Venetian-Serbian relations and form an important part of Italian and Serbian cultural heritage.
