Abstract

The subjects of the article are the character and activities of police inspector Vladeta N. Milićević, which domestic and foreign historiography has studied only incidentally. Namely, in accordance with Milićević’s professional engagement, it treated them mainly within the framework of the topic of Ustasha emigration in the interwar period, and to some extent the issues related to the émigré governments of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during World War II. His post war activities as a national emigrant, especially important in intelligence and security terms, have been sparsely covered in the existing literature, primarily due to the prevailing ideological narrative and the lack or unavailability of historical sources. Therefore, we can conclude that we have at our disposal only biographical fragments. In order to reconstruct a partial biography, which we will use until a comprehensive biography is written about Milićević, we will focus mainly on unpublished archival materials. These are documents stored in the Archives of Yugoslavia and the Military Archives in Belgrade, as well as in the depots of the Hoover Institution Archives at Stanford University, on the basis of which we will shape the outline for the biography.
