Abstract
The work contains a description of the activities of the Šumadija Division within the Third Army during the First Balkan War, with special emphasis on the conflicts in the coastal region. The bulk of the work is the letters of Gvozden Miljković, sergeant of the 2nd company, 2nd battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment. His description of the war, but also of the new places he visited, while emphasizing Serbian tradition and history, is of great importance for completing our knowledge of the suffering and heroic struggle of the Serbian people from the beginning of the 20th century. The role of the ordinary man in the war, his vision and description of the events are a valuable historical source, which will be of benefit not only to researchers and historians, but also to all for whom the ideas of freedom are the highest ideal.
