Abstract

Žika D. Obrenović (Belgrade, 1872 – Leskovac, 1936) was one of the founders of the printing industry in Leskovac. He founded the printing house in 1894 under the name “Ž. D. Obrenovićʼs commercial  printing house” which worked until his death. The first political paper in Leskovac “Leskovčanin”was printed in his printing house in 1896. What enabled the printing house to continue its work until the First World War was the publication of newspapers that were independent of daily political reality. After the war, the printing house renewed its work and in addition to forms, stamps and package for product packing, it published and printed a significant number of books and reports on the work of numerous schools, organizations, cooperatives, etc. It was the first printing house which printed the paper “Leskovački glasnik” whose editor-in-chief  was initially Žika D. Obrenović. In the supplement of activities of the publishing house there is a bibliography of book and non-book materials (monographic and serial publications, posters and postcards) printed in the period from 1895 to 1936. Bibliographic material was taken from printed sources and from the online Union bibliographic-catalogue database COBIB.SR.
