Abstract

The paper presents scientific research of archive materials preserved in Historical Archives of Belgrade, more precisely at the BdS fund, highlighting the attempt of the Chegar Corps of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland/Royal Yugoslav Army to liberate the prisoners/inmates by a sudden intrusion into Lager Nish/Crveni Krst Concentration Camp. Most of prisoners/inmates used to be JVuO/Royal Yugoslav Army fighters, captured in the fighting; captured fighters were planned be deported to Mauthausen, one of the worst of the Nazi concentration camps (Austria). The archive documents presented in this paper explain the planned strategy for liberting prisoners. The described event was supposed to be organized during major stage for the further survival of the JVuO/Royal Yugoslav Army corps, due to the fact - since the beginning of 1944 they had frequent and difficult battles most often with the 14th National Liberation Army Brigade of Yugoslav partisans *14th NOV Brigade
