Abstract
National museum of Leskovac received a beautiful, fragmented zoomorphic figurine, which was interpreted as a bull figurine. The item was found and given as a present to the museum by the museum’s cooperative Vladimir Aranđelović, and the archaeological site where he has found the figurine is Kućište, in the village of Čekmin, 15 km away from Leskovac. Bull-shaped figurines are, safe to say, characteristic for the Early Neolithic period, and this type of figurines follows the Neolithic way of life. There are almost no visible ornaments on the figurine, which has two fragmented horns spreading in the semicircle upwards, and plastically modeled muzzle. There are three more bull-shaped figurines from the prehistoric period in the National museum of Leskovac, and two of them are from the Late Neolithic period too. Zoomorphic figurine from Čekmin is dated to Vinča cultural group, Late Neolithic period, 5700-4700 BC.
